The mango originally came from India, but is present today in all the tropical areas of the world. It was brought to Brazil by the Portuguese, and the state of São Paulo stands out as the biggest producer. The most popular varieties are; Tommy Atkins, Palmer, Haden, Carlota, Ubá, Sword, Keitt and Coração de Boi.
Eaten mainly fresh or as juice, we also find it in ice cream, candies and mango chutney. Nutritionally the mango is a good source of potassium, vitamin C and vitamin A, and also contains dietary fibers(which varies according to the variety of the fruit
