Coming from the Amazonian forest it is found mainly in the state of Pará. It is a fruit with a brown skin with seeds inside in a light yellow pulp of slightly acidic flavor.
The puree is used in jellies, juices,
ice cream, chocolate fillings, liqueurs and from the processed seed they obtain
cupuaçu butter used in the manufacture of chocolate.
