Originating in the upper regions of the Amazon, by virtue of climate and soil, its cultivation flourished in the state of Bahia, turning this state into a major producer, and itself becoming a symbol of wealth for the cities of Itabuna and Ilheus. The cacao(cocoa fruit) has a hard and thick rind. Inside the are seeds and pulp that are removed and separated.
From the seed we get cocoa butter and chocolate powder. The pulp is used for the manufacture of purees, juices, ice cream, desserts and other items. Nutritionally, the pulp is low in calories, contains vitamin B1 and a small amount of fiber.
