According to historians, the fruit, which is of southeast Asian origin, arrived in Brazil during the colonisation period and adapted perfectly to the soil and Brazilian climate. The banana is today considered the most Brazilian of fruits, and is found everywhere in our country, with many varieties, such as the nanica banana, banana maçã, banana prata, etc.

It is eaten fresh, or as a purees, in yogurts, candies, shakes, etc. Nutritionally, it is outstanding for its energy giving properties and as a great source of potassium.
